LineAlert: Built on the Kupaku Platform as a Service

LineAlert Overview:

LineAlert is a storm response platform built on Kupaku’s Visual Field Operations (VFO) engine. It helps utilities collect real-time, geotagged images of power line damage submitted by field workers, contractors, and even the public. These images are compressed using Kupaku’s Smartbandwidth™ protocol and routed into a live control panel where utility staff can view, assess, and respond.

How it Works:

  1. Utility defines a "mission" area post-storm.
  2. LineAlert users in that area (contractors, citizens, field staff) submit photos using the app.
  3. Photos are instantly previewed (<100KB) and optionally pulled in high resolution.
  4. Utility teams review, triage, and act using a centralized control panel.

Why it Matters:

  • Speeds up restoration after hurricanes and ice storms
  • Reduces cost of field inspections
  • Improves safety by reducing the need for physical scouting
  • Helps utilities meet FEMA documentation requirements

Key Features:

  • Instant photo triage
  • Region-of-interest high-res requests
  • Centralized control panel review
  • Easy onboarding via QR or mission codes
  • Real-time export to KML for integration with GIS tools

Benefits to Utilities:

  • Faster power restoration
  • Increased situational awareness
  • Reduced risk to linemen and inspectors
  • Clear, visual documentation for regulators and reimbursements
